Difficulties and many more.
I promote change by taking small steps and building solid foundations.
The
approach that I use in my practice is humanistic, my modality is Transactional Analysis (TA) and this is underpinned by three
key principles:Everyone is ok.
Everyone has the capacity to think and influence their lives by the decisions they take.
Any decision can be changed.
Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality, communication, child development
and psychopathology. It developed from ideas originated by Eric Berne, MD, in America in the 1950/60's. Originally Eric
Berne trained in psychoanalysis, from this position he developed his own theory; a fundamental concept of which is that it
can be easily understood by layman. The theory can be used in educational and organisational settings as well as counselling
and psychotherapy; it is profound and closely reasoned.
Transactional Analysis is based on open communication,
clear contracts and boundaries. Each practitioner is encouraged to develop their personal moral qualities of integrity, courage,
respect, honesty, compassion, humility and fairness through intensive training, personal therapy and supervision.
The theory outlines how we develop and grow; how we relate and communicate with others and how we see the world, it offers
suggestions and interventions which will enable change through autonomy.
I also have knowledge and experience
of Person Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Weight Management, Mediation and Teaching. I use all of these
tools, techniques and skills to make suggestions or interventions with clients to enhance the overall experience of making
change and finding resolution to their distress and discomfort.
