Group therapy offers a unique environment in which to learn about and experience both self
and others. It provides an opportunity to explore issues in depth, in a setting which more closely resembles the work, study, social and family
groupings you may experience in everyday life. Working together with others in a group can provide you with valuable insights
and added understanding. It can allow you to see that you are not alone in your experience; it encourages sharing and lets
others relate to the issues being discussed and provide added perspective and options.Different people have different needs and reasons for wanting to develop their self awareness. Learning to
accept yourself for who you are, imperfections and all, learning to love yourself for who and what you are are often at the
base of these reasons.
You can attend a group whilst using other programmes to support your personal development
and growth. Sometimes we need support to help us recognise the dream or goal we are working towards.
Working in
a group enables you to recognise you are not on your own; it allows new perspective and will allow you to see how your relationships
with others can impact upon your growth.
In accordance with TA ethics; I believe each client can make their own
decisions about change and they can find their own meaning and way through the challenges that they are currently facing.
I model and promote open clear communication with each client by encouraging them to recognise their own needs
and taking responsibility to ask for those needs to be met.
I encourage individuals to take time to understand
their thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours in a nurturing and safe environment. This in turn allows options
to open up and new decisions through informed choice that are appropriate to the here and now and not based on old influences
or behaviours can to be made.
During the group we will look at what you want to achieve and how you plan to achieve
it and we will contract to this affect. I encourage small steps to change which are realistic and attainable so you do not
feel overwhelmed and unable to cope. I believe change is possible with time, effort, commitment and investment of self.
Change can be completed over a period of time, without denial or pressure. There are different ways to change and
it can include a higher purpose. By getting to know yourself better, you can develop in many different ways that will benefit
you at work, with friends and family or intimately with a partner. Finding new perspective will encourage you to see the world
in general in a different light.
By taking responsibility for and making appropriate choices around your personal
development you open up increased quality of life and general well-being. Becoming more self aware increases self esteem,
confidence, worth, love and belief, which in turn can affect your overall emotional and physical health.
We will
look at your life history, lifestyle, old messages, the usefulness of some of your thoughts, how you are feeling, your behaviours,
strengths, areas for development, opportunities and concerns. You will be encouraged to action plan and experiment; whilst
remembering whatever you achieve is good enough.
I will use techniques, tools and interventions to support you
on your journey so that you can find peace, freedom, empowerment and creativity to overcome whatever challenge you are facing.
Working in a group with people that are initially strangers can be an amazing experience which can impact you
for a lifetime and become an invaluable resource.
Before allocating you to a group I will ask you to attend an
initial consultation on a one to one basis. This will allow me to assess your individual needs. Not everyone is suited to
working in a group environment straightaway so it may be I recommend that we work together on a one to one basis for a while.
If this is the case I will discuss this with you at the consultation then you can chose whether you want to go ahead with
the work on this basis.
Each group is run on a membership basis which means you pay for 4 weeks at a time and
you contract to give three weeks notice of your intention to leave. Individuals who are interested in groupwork can contact me by telephone 07540 145075
